The Edge of Reason continues the story of Bridget Jones and is equally warm and funny. At the beginning of the novel, Bridget is in a very different situation from the previous book. She is now going out with her perfect man, Mark Darcy. But, as is usual with Bridget, things do not go smoothly with the relationship. A threat soon appears in the form of the beautiful, slim and intelligent Rebecca, who is determined to steal Mark away. In addition, Bridget has problems with Gary, the builder who promises to do extension work on her flat. Many of the memorable and funny characters in The Edge of Reason also appear in Bridget Jones?s Diary. These include Bridget?s best friends, Shaz (also referred to as Sharon and Shazzer) and Jude, Bridget?s mother, her mother?s friends Una and Geoffrey Alconbury and Richard Finch, Bridget?s awful boss at the TV company Sit Up Britain.
