New Wave is a four-book series for teenage and adult learners of American English in an international context. It takes students from beginning to low intermediate level through activities based on their real language needs. The series uses international settings and characters to reflect the needs of learners to use English both in their own countries and when traveling abroad. New Wave is based on second generation communicative methodology, balancing the acquisition of new language through listening and reading input with student-centered activities for grammatical accuracy, pronunciation, and the development of fluent speaking skills. Each level of New Wave is designed to cover a typical semester of between 40 and 60 hours. Each Students Book is accompanied by cassettes and an Adivity Bookwhich emphasizes accuracy based learning. The Teachers Resource Book gives overall methodological guidelines, step-by-step procedures, cultural notes, and many supplementary student centered activities for additional speaking and writing practice.
